About Eastside Torah Center

16199 Northup Way, Bellevue, WA 98008

The Eastside Torah Center, or Chabad of Bellevue, is “your source for everything Jewish on the Eastside.” This small, dynamic community welcomes Jews of all religious and cultural backgrounds to gather, learn, and celebrate together in suburban Bellevue. Open 365 days a year, it’s an inviting place to explore your spirituality, engage socially, and continue your Jewish education.

The Eastside Torah Center, or ETC, was founded by Rabbi Mordechai Farkash and his wife, Rebettzin Rochie Farkash. ETC is also guided by Rabbi Sholom Ber Elishevetz and his wife, Rebbetzin Chaya Elishevitz. Together, this wonderful team guides children and adults of all ages through an exploration of what it means to be Jewish, from Hebrew school to B’Nei Mitzvahs to the challenges and triumphs of adulthood and parenthood.

The ETC has a huge focus on community and offers a variety of opportunities to gather, learn, worship, and celebrate alongside other Bellevue Jews. Whether you’re looking for a social event or a heartfelt service, you can probably find it at the ETC.

The ETC also offers a variety of opportunities to gather and socialize as a community. Here are just a few ways that you can be an active part of the ETC!

Services

Eastside Torah Center is also home to Congregation Beis Menachem, a Chabad-style synagogue. They host services every Shabbat and, of course, offer special services for holidays throughout the year. On Saturday mornings, the Kids Club holds a unique synagogue experience just for little ones ages 3 through 11. Bring your child(ren) to enjoy interactive games, stories, sing-along prayers, and the Torah portion of the week.

Eastside Torah Center Hebrew School

Hebrew School is a great way to encourage your child to explore and embrace their Jewish heritage. The Chabad Hebrew School is a friendly and engaging environment that encourages a true sense of Jewish pride in children, regardless of their level of observance or affiliation. Dynamic teachers use creativity and compassion to guide students through an exploration of the joys, values, and traditions of Judaism in a motivating and challenging environment. Students of all ages will also learn the Aleph-Bais and Hebrew literacy and have a deeper understanding of the Jewish holidays.

Additionally, Hebrew School students will explore biblical figures and stories to help enrich their understanding and appreciation for Jewish culture. They’ll also learn the importance of Tzedakah, the care and responsibility for our planet and all of G-d’s creations, and the significance of mitzvot, helping them become well-rounded and compassionate beings.

Women’s Social Events

The Jewish Women’s Sisterhood was created to give women of all ages and backgrounds the opportunity to “learn, laugh, experience and rejuvenate the mind, body, and soul.” Throughout the year, you’ll be able to participate in gatherings that revolve around baking, volunteering, celebrating, and learning together. Be sure to check their calendar to see what fun events are coming up!

Eastside Torah Center B’nei Mitzvah Program

The B’nei Mitzvah Program is a two-year program for boys and girls who are preparing for their Bar and Bat Mitzvahs. This two-year program begins in fifth grade for girls and sixth grade for boys. Students will explore a comprehensive curriculum that focuses on all things Jewish, including Shabbat, holidays, Tikkun Olam, the Torah, Israel, Prayer, Tefillin, and so much more. They’ll learn through thought-provoking discussions, interactive activities, and inspiring guest speakers to prepare them for their unique B’nei Mitzvah journey and life beyond.

Summer Opportunities

If you’re looking for something for your children to enjoy over the summers, Eastside Torah Center has something for kids of all ages. One of their most popular programs is CTeen Summer Odyssey, a two-week road trip for Jewish teens entering 10th, 11th, and 12th grades. Travelers will take in the scenic landscapes of states like Idaho, Utah, Nevada, and California while exploring vibrant Jewish communities along the way.

CTeen participants will enjoy a mix of camping, hotel stays, and visits to Chabad houses throughout their travels. They’ll get to experience the beauty of Bryce Canyon and Zion National Park before ending with visits to California amusement parks and a kosher culinary tour throughout Las Vegas and Los Angeles. It’s an incredible experience to help broaden your teen’s horizons in these important and formative years of life.

But CTeen isn’t the only summer opportunity offered by ETC. They also have a full summer calendar packed with week-long day camps for kids of all ages to enjoy. The camps are a fabulous way to keep your kids entertained, active, and connected to their Jewish community all summer long!

Specialty Mikvah At Eastside Torah Center

If you’re a woman looking for a local Mikvah, Eastside Torah Center has one nearby for your convenience. Not all Chabads are associated with Mikvahs. However, ETC’s Mikvah Mei Menachem is a women-owned establishment in a private neighborhood with a private entrance.
