Starting out college can be pretty overwhelming. All of a sudden, you’re expected to make decisions that will affect the rest of your life and potentially cost you thousands. No pressure, though, right? As a Bellevue senior photographer, I spend a lot of time chatting with high school students facing this dilemma, and I’ve gotten to hear all about their decisions. Now more than ever, people are starting to turn to public colleges like Bellevue. If you’ve been considering this option, let me tell you what you can expect with the process of applying to Bellevue College.
3000 Landerholm Circle SE, Bellevue, Washington 98007-6406
Before applying to the wonderful Bellevue College, let’s get to know the school a little better. Bellevue College is a public college established in 1966. It was founded under the network of Washington Community and Technical Colleges. With nearly 20,000 students, it’s the largest college in the system. The college offers associate degrees, bachelor’s degrees, and professional-technical degrees and certifications. It also offers continuing education programs and college credits for high school students.
Before you make your decision to start applying, you can start out by touring Bellevue College. The school offers both in-person and virtual tours. When you choose an in-person tour, you will be paired with a knowledgeable guide who can answer all your questions and make sure you feel comfortable. The campus is extensive, covering over 100 acres. There is a residential hall with dorms and apartments, as well as food options for the students who choose to live on campus. The College Student Success Center is a modern building with glass windows that look out over the gorgeous campus, while the Science Center offers a cubist design. The Raging River Courtyard has a large fountain and gives you a tranquil space to study. There’s also a theater and a planetarium.
No matter how many Bellevue College courses you plan to take, you first have to apply. Admission for the fall semester ends March 7. You will start out by creating an account on the college site and follow their step-by-step guide for their application. There is a small fee for submitting this. Then, you’ll wait to receive an email letting you know whether you got in. From there, you will create a school ID, sign up for financial aid if needed, complete the new student orientation, and start enrolling for classes.
If you are using financial aid, you can complete either the FAFSA or the WAFSA. You cannot complete both of these forms. The center allows you to complete these forms virtually or physically. With the second option, they will guide you on where to mail the forms. The center has a financial aid center and will guide you through the steps so you can make sure you get the assistance you need. You will need to fill out a new form every new academic year.
By applying to Bellevue College, you can start your college education easily and affordably! Schedule your tour soon so you can decide whether this is the place for you.
