If you are the type of volunteer who loves sports, Athletes for Kids is your Sammamish opportunity! This organization offers volunteer opportunities for students at Skyline, Eastlake, or Eastside Catholic High School. You will essentially be mentoring a student from your area. You will work with a kid from 1st-12th grade who might have disabilities and functional needs. The organization will take the time to find you your ideal match so you can completely mesh! They do require you to be referred by other AFK mentors, coaches, teachers, athletic directors, or community members. You will also need to go through a screening and background check.
Kids Coming Together
Kids Coming Together was founded to connect Sammamish students to their communities with free service events and volunteer opportunities. Seriously, no matter your interests, they have just the thing for you. You can create dog toys for the humane society, make hot cocoa packs for The Sophia Way, or remove invasive species from the local ecosystem. They give you options, including working directly with kids or building leadership teams. Throughout the process, you are going to learn responsibility and make some friends! KidVantage is an amazing organization that is dedicated to giving local families the resources they need. They provide shoes, formula, diapers, coats, blankets, and more to kids ages 0-12. KidVantage also works with mothers throughout their pregnancy to give them the best start to parenthood. Their volunteer opportunities work across 80 school districts, organizations, and daycares, including in Sammamish. In order to make it all happen, they rely on hardworking volunteers. You can organize gear and sort through donations that come in. They also give you the chance to organize local drives so they can get the supplies needed.
