As an Issaquah senior photographer, I spend a lot of time chatting with students about ways to elevate their photo sessions. Gone are the days when you would go to a studio, stand in front of a blue background, and awkwardly pose next to a soccer ball or a trumpet. Now, you can use your Issaquah High School senior portraits to show off your personality and celebrate all that you’ve done so far! One of my favorite ways to step up these sessions is to encourage students to take cap and gown photos. If you need a little help figuring out whether or not you actually need to bring your cap and gown to your session, let me tell you why these photos are some of the best!
Your Issaquah High School senior photos are a way to show off all you’ve accomplished. You have reached the end of over 13 years of schooling. I know you don’t need me to tell you this, but that’s a long, long time! By planning cap and gown pictures, you have an easy way to tell the world you are FINALLY done with high school and are on your way to a brand new journey.
I love encouraging Issaquah High School seniors to bring their friends along for their sessions. There are actually a few reasons for this. For starters, you’re going to be way more comfortable during your session if you are cracking jokes with your friends, and all those smiles are going to be genuine. Secondly, your friends have probably been with you through all the high and low points of the past years. This is kind of a team sport. And it’s a good way to schedule some precious time together before you are in different colleges. By incorporating your cap and gown, you’ll all have an easy way to stay on theme.
Look, I’m not saying you need to use your cap and gown for all your pictures, but it does help add some variety to your pics. You can still use this session as an excuse to get that brand-new dress you keep dreaming about. But it does help break up your pictures and gives you an easy prop you can use throughout. Plus, getting action shots of you throwing your Issaquah High School cap in the air is a pretty iconic picture that you’ll treasure for years!
Finally, scheduling Issaquah High School cap and gown pictures makes for the perfect graduation announcements. I know this might not be at the top of your concerns, but trust me, your parents will really appreciate it. This photo is going to be used for everything from graduation party invitations to holiday cards. It’s the picture that will end up on fridges and mantles for months. Might as well make it as fabulous as possible! By wearing your cap and gown, you can have your announcement picture before moving on to the pictures you might care a little more about.
