About Seattle Promise

Seattle Promise is a program available through Seattle Colleges. The community college has partnered with Seattle Public School and the City of Seattle to make sure there are no hurdles as you enter college. There are several things this program promises to do: guide you on your career from high school to college, give you the chance to find career opportunities, and help you enter the region’s workforce without overwhelming debt. The program is available to Seattle Public School students regardless of income or GPA.
Services
So, what is Seattle Promise exactly? Think of it as a scholarship, only better! In order to use this program, you’ll need to apply for admission to Seattle College and the program. Once you are in, you will be able to choose from a long list of programs of study before attending the Readiness Academy. Seattle Promise offers programs in studies such as the arts, culinary, accounting, education, STEM, health and medical, technical trades, and more. No matter what you have planned for your future, there’s a good chance the program offers it!
During your schooling, there are a few requirements you need to meet. You will need to be a full-time student with enrollment in at least 12 hours a semester. You will also need to remain in good academic standing. Each quarter, you will meet with a Seattle Promise Retention Specialist who will make sure you remain on track. They want to ensure you have all the keys you need to succeed, and they will do what it takes to help you out! Seattle Promise will give you up to two free years of community college, and you will then be able to transfer them to your four-year university of choice.

Not only will Seattle Promise give you up to 90 credits of free college, but they will also make sure you have the tools to succeed. You will be given guidance and mentorship as you work toward your degree. Your advisors will be there to answer your questions and make sure you are getting the most out of your classes. Beyond the credits, the school can work with you if you need help with other college costs. They also have developmental programs you can try during your time here.
