Island Treats

7605 Southeast 27th Street, Mercer Island, Washington 98040

Island Treats is a fabulous bakery that was started by Amy Peterson on Mercer Island. Years ago, she was stuck inside on a typical rainy Seattle day and came across an old family recipe with a warning that read, “Warning: don’t make on a rainy day.” Always curious, she asked for clarification and realized the warning came not from the effect of the moisture on the toffee but rather the lack of self-control you tend to have when cooped inside. She decided that maybe a good treat was what all of us in the PNW needed, and thus Island Treats was born.

While Island Treats does not make cakes, they do make candy. Lots and lots of sweet, decadent candy! When you work with them, you can choose from customized desserts your guests will adore for years to come. You can create customized Bar or Bat Mitzvah treat boxes, or you can have a candy display celebrating your child. No matter what you choose, I know Island Treats is going to set your day apart!

Pure Delights Baking Co.

Once you have the candy, it’s time to find the cake. This is where Pure Delights Baking Co. comes in. This home Mercer Island bakery was founded by Debbie Burke to provide some of the most jaw-dropping customized cakes for all kinds of events. Debbie is up for pretty much any challenge. You can ask for a simple, elegant, tiered cake or request a themed, fondant cake. She can also handle treats like cupcakes, cake pops, sugar cookies, homemade caramel, and cocoa bombs.

When you place an order, you will start out by choosing a flavor. Debbie can do pure vanilla, chocolate, red velvet, strawberry, lemon, carrot, or brownie. Next comes the icing. She can handle nearly every flavor of buttercream, or you can take it over the top with some ganache. She makes it easy to create a custom cake so your child’s celebration will be nothing short of perfect!
